Thoughts for the Month

For many children, this month is synonymous with the end of childhood as they will be leaving school. Life will change as they become adults and have to accept responsibility for their lives.

Change – something that all experience throughout life. Things are always changing.

In 1 Corinthians Chapter 15 we read, ‘Lo! I tell you a mystery. We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised, and we shall be changed.’ There is something wonderful about that promise, isn’t there?

There are many people who do not like change, they want life to continue as it always has – in the same house, same job, same friends; things to stay in the same place in the supermarket.

If one thinks about it, things are changing all the time – each day we are a bit older, we learn new things, old friends and acquaintances move and we meet new people. Jobs for life are a thing of the past, so we may well have to move to get a new one, so that will involve moving house too.

Change can be a challenge, an opportunity to try something new and so grow in confidence and character. There is no choice, we all have to change as we grow old, gracefully or otherwise!
