St. Clement Church, Truro.
The month of August has been a very busy one for the members of the Church. In addition to the regular services held by Rev Diane and Reader Liz, the activities to encourage and welcome visitors to our lovely old church were expanded.
The Coffee morning which is held on the first Thursday of each month is now a regular venue for many local residents as well as members from other churches in the area. It is always a pleasure to see them as well as the holiday visitors from all over the country.
In addition to the monthly event above, the ladies of St Clement have provided a delicious cream tea on the Saturday and Sunday afternoons throughout August. This annual hospitality provision has proved extremely successful, with many return visits made by holiday makers. One particular example was on the last Saturday of the month when we were entertained by Girl Guides from Plymouth who were camping at Condurrow with their leaders. The lively singsong that they provided after enjoying the cream cakes was much appreciated by all.
This extra involvement with the community has been cheerfully undertaken by the talented cooks and helpers, of whom we are very proud, despite the difficulties presented with the major work that is taking place within the building.
The work on the central heating replacement is now well underway, and with the many extra radiators installed, we can look to a much warmer environment in the winter months.
