St Clement Church, Truro.
On Sunday the 22nd April, the Church held its Annual General Meeting at St Andrews Hall, Malpas. The hall has been used for services whilst St Clement Church is undergoing restoration work, but it is hoped that the said building will re-open next month.
Many items of interest were discussed at the meeting, and Rev Diane was able to introduce the plans that are in progress to transform Bell Close Sanctuary into “an oasis in a busy world”. This work is the focus of an AMD Project (AMD- Accompanied Ministerial Development) and has gained approval from the Bishop. The aim is to provide a sanctuary away from the pressures of everyday life and give pleasure and rest to visitors. We hope to involve a local school in the project in which the children can regularly visit and benefit from the wildlife habitat.
Bell Close has been cleared of the overgrown brambles and weeds and a professional gardener engaged to prevent it returning to its neglected state. Rev Diane explained that access would be improved with an all- weather permeable resin path around the site. Seating will be provided in several areas, and wild flowers and plants will make it a habitat for bees, butterflies and insects. An abandoned pond has been discovered amongst the undergrowth and this will be re-instated with care to further attract the wildlife.
Finally it is hoped that local folk will approve and support such an ambitious plan and all offers of help will be greatly appreciated.
